3 - Consider consolidating your debt.

You may find lots of companies out there, some of them non-profit, that are taking advantage of the opportunity to step out and help consumers in our struggling economy. Basically these companies will typically work with your creditors to settle your debt at lowered interest rates or even at a discount off your principal. The only part is that these settlements are not a bankruptcy, making debt consolidation a great choice for a consumer that wants to avoid filing, but needs a little help.
